Weft Hair Extensions

Wefts are one of the most versatile extension methods on the market and as such, have been around the longest. They’ve always been extremely popular with longer-haired women and the minimum natural hair length requirement for weft extensions is past shoulder length that’s because it is not the best option for short hair and can easily be noticed. Therefore, Slay recommend at you wait for the hair to grow a bit longer if you have your heart set on this method, the longer the natural hair the better and more natural the weft extensions will blend.

Comfort & Maintenance Level: When installed, weft extensions last in the hair 6-10 weeks before needing to be removed and reinstalled (also known as refitted). However, this is dependent on how quickly your natural hair grows and how well you care for your weft extensions. They are more comfortable on clients with thicker hair, sadly on thinner hair you may feel additional tension and risking breakage.

Lifestyle: If you are short on time in the mornings, managing a young family, busy career etc before embarking on hair extensions you will need to think about the time it takes to manage and care for your new locks to make sure you will be able to commit the level of care that is required.

Recommended Hair Type: Ideal for thick hair.

Hair damage risk: Like all methods of hair extensions, there is always a risk of hair damage. However, Sew in weft extensions can be removed, when necessary without damaging your natural hair. They are also easy to install, making them a great option for people who do not want to go through the hassle of using glue.

Cons with this method: Can feel a little bulky when sleeping, takes longer to dry when wet and do not recommend wefts for naturally very oily hair. Sadly, the natural oils from the scalp can get in between the micro rings and cause the weft to slip.

Tape-in Hair Extensions

Slay tape hair extensions are taped close to the hair’s roots and require a minimum hair length of 6 inches. Tape hair extensions are incredibly versatile for all hair types, but because they lay so flat to the head, giving a smooth, natural appearance work perfectly with fine & thin hair.

Tapes can be removed quicker than they can be applied. Removal is done by applying a remover in between the adhesive tabs. In seconds, the tapes can effortlessly glide out of your natural hair. Afterwards they can be reused and refitted by adding new tabs.

Tape extensions are designed to look virtually invisible and incredibly realistic, the seamless design provides a flat finish with no lumps or bumps, and the extensions blend perfectly with natural hair.

Comfort & Maintenance Level: Tape extensions are soft, comfortable and require very little maintenance. When fitted correctly, you will almost forget they are wearing extensions as they are so lightweight and a heat free application require no heat or force to install or remove, protecting the integrity of your natural hair. When installed, tape extensions last in the hair 6-8 weeks before needing to be removed and reinstalled (also known as refitted). However, this is dependent on how quickly your natural hair grows and how well you care for your tapes preventing matting.

Lifestyle: If you are short on time in the mornings, managing a young family, busy career etc before embarking on hair extensions you will need to think about the time it takes to manage and care for your new locks to make sure you will be able to commit the level of care that is required.

Recommended Hair Type: Ideal for all hair types, but particularly work best on fine, thin hair.

Hair damage risks: Like all methods of hair extensions, there is always a risk of hair damage. However, tape extensions are considered to be the kindest, gentlest, least damaging hair extension method on the market. They distribute their weight across a larger section of your hair, compared to other professional extension methods. This means natural hair is less likely to break or be pulled out from the root, keeping it looking healthy, even when the extensions are removed.

Cons with this method: Do not recommend tape extension for naturally very oily hair. Sadly, the natural oils from the scalp can get in between the tape tab and cause the extensions to slip out of your hair.

Nano Bonds Hair Extensions

When it comes to bonded hair extensions, there is a huge range to choose from and extremely popular with longer-haired women with the correct installation, nano bond extensions can blend seamlessly into your natural hair, with the ability to also be completely customizable and adaptable to your natural colour and thickness. For very long but thin hair, nano bonds extensions are the go-to because they are super small, discrete and almost invisible.

Comfort & maintenance level: Hight maintenance and bigger financial commitment, needed for installed, re-fitted and new hair top-up this method tends to loss a small number of bonds between maintenance appointments.

Lifestyle: Nano bonds are best suited for the gym-goer but not great with high ponytail creates too much tensions on the natural hair.

Recommended Hair Type: Ideal for long thin hair, they are super small, discrete and almost invisible.

Hair damage risks: Sadly, over a long period of time nano bonds can damage to your natural hair as they apply concentrated weight and tension to the hair follicle.

Cons with this method: Do not recommend nanos for naturally very oily hair. Sadly, the natural oils from the scalp can get in between the nano rings and cause the extensions to slip out of your hair.
